Actos is being used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus for quite some time. However, it has long been thought to be associated with some unwarranted side effects. These concerns have been substantiated by several studies and researches. The Actos has been linked to some life threatening side effects which include bladder tumor or bladder cancer. The high risk of developing of actos bladder tumor has been recognized by FDA. The organization has issued stronger warning labels. It has also been recognized that the individuals who have taken Actos for a prolonged duration, are more susceptible to developing of bladder tumor. The doctors have also been warned not to prescribe the drug to patients with bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer and to inform the patients of the possible symptoms of the disease. The medicine has also come under the scanner of several other regulators and has resulted in the drug either being banned in certain European countries or warned against its usage in many others.
